Windows provides several battery status levels to allow appropriate actions. Tune these as appropriate to your requirements.
Settings -> System -> Power and Sleep:
- On Battery savings:
- Turn off display : 10 minutes
- Put computer to sleep : 20 minutes
Settings -> System -> Battery:
- Turn battery saver on automatically at : 20%
- [x] Limit notifications and background activity
- [x] Lower screen brightness while in battery saver
Control Panel -> Power Options -> Advanced settings:
- Turn off hard disks : 3 minutes
- Low battery:
- Default level = 12%
- Notification: “Your battery is running low. You might want to plug in your PC”
- Action: *Do nothing / Sleep / Hibernate / Shut down
- Reserve battery:
- Default level = 10%
- Prepares computer to enter sleep mode; may prompt user to save and close files.
- Critical battery:
- Default level = 7%
- Action : Sleep / *Hibernate / Shut down
(occurs instantly, does not wait for user)
